First Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement done at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center

Hartaj Virk, MD & Mahesh Bikkina, MD performed the first TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement) done at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center on November 7, 2013.

The TAVR involves placing a new bioprosthetic aortic valve through the femoral artery under fluoroscopic guidance, NO NEED for open heart surgery.
